Credit Billing Systems

We offer monthly credit billing to provide hassle-free payment collection across your schemes. We offer both paper and electronic billing, with multiple payment methods available to customers. Our services are fully in line with regulation as well as following Heat Trust’s guidance.

Credit billing is one of two methods of metering and billing to consider when developing a heat network, allowing customers to use energy first and pay later. They are billed for their consumption on a monthly basis via paper or electronic bills.

Credit billing systems rely on regular and accurate meter readings from all properties connected to the heat network. Readings must be remotely collected from properties and transmitted off-site using web-based technology. This is known as an Automated Meter Reading (AMR) system.

Features

  • A simple, traditional billing and metering solution
  • Monthly credit billing either paper or electronic
  • Two debt reminder letters issued following non-payment to aid debt recovery
  • Remote and automatic collection of meter reads

Payment Methods

We offer the following payment methods as standard to all our credit billed customers:

  • Online portal for bank payments
  • Direct Debits – Fixed, Variable and Payment Plans
  • Pay by cash or bank card at any PayZone or Post Office
  • Over the phone with one of our customer service agents
  • Faster payments or standing orders

How it works - Installer and M&E considerations

  • Wired M-bus solution allowing for fully open protocol solution,
    • Where wired M-Bus data networks do not exist – typically in the case of a retrofit solution or where one cannot be accommodated within the design of a site - radio-based alternatives provide an option for M-Bus data collection from within the properties.
  • Credit billing systems rely on regular and accurate meter readings from all properties connected to the heat network. Readings must be remotely collected from properties and transmitted off-site using web-based technology. This is known as an Automated Meter Reading (AMR) system,
  • Heat meter (mains or battery powered) to be installed within each property with a wired M-Bus output,
  • A site-wide cabled network, called an M-Bus network, which connects all the heat meters back to a single location such as the plant room. Preferred topology is Star.
  • A site datalogger at the point the M-Bus network converges to record the readings from the heat meters on a daily or more regular basis,
  • A high-grade router and connectivity to a fixed IP (static) broadband connection. This provides the remote connectivity to site in order to collect or transmit heat meter reading data used in the billing process.
